Biologists consider the mechanism of determining the sex of a future child to be one of nature's most difficult mysteries. However, a research team led by Yuri Zharkov, a graduate of the Russian Military Medical University and an associate doctor of medicine, claims to have solved this problem. It not only explains this mysterious mechanism, but also clarifies the system that activates this mechanism. This discovery has also obtained a patent called "Pre-conception Child Gender Selection Method". So, what exactly is this mechanism? What do other scientists think?
Why do physicists love boys? Why do geologists love girls?
Since ancient times, men and women have been praying to God to give them boys or girls, and various superstitions have been derived from this.
The first research paper on this topic appeared in the Soviet Union in the 1950s. The title of the paper was "Comparison of Gender in Physicists' and Geologists' Families". The publication of this paper caused a sensation in the few expert circles. Its views were impeccable from a scientific point of view. The conclusion at that time was that the gender of the child depends to a large extent on the frequency of sexual intercourse. In families where men (like physicists) can have regular sexual intercourse, most of them give birth to boys; while in families where men (like geologists) are often away on business and fail to have sexual intercourse on time, most of them give birth to girls. Many doctors, including Zharkov himself, tested this view on patients and found it to be confirmed. For example, sailors' families mostly give birth to girls, while families of coastal service troops mostly give birth to boys. Zharkov worked as a doctor in the Pacific Fleet Hospital in Vladivostok for a period of time, so he has a say in this.
Polish doctors, and later American doctors, discovered the relationship between sexual frequency and ovulation.
In fact, half a century ago, geneticists had already found out that a pair of XY chromosome sperm is a male combination, and a pair of XX chromosome sperm is a female combination. The physiological characteristics of these two pairs (XY pairs are active and lively, and XX pairs are strong in vitality) attracted the earliest papers discussing the possibility of pre-setting the sex of children. Polish doctor Frantisek Benedot and later American doctor Louis Chartres discovered the relationship between sexual frequency and ovulation. The young military doctor Zarkov decided to make an effort to study the mysterious mechanism of "sex setting" to find out whether it can be controlled. In his opinion, the Benedot-Chartres theory only explained many characteristics of the precise means of predicting sex, and a series of questions remained unanswered.
For example, it cannot reveal the well-known secret of the "war phenomenon" and cannot answer the secret of why the animal population will drastically change the gender balance and increase the number of males after a war or a major social disaster. Moreover, this is not only a phenomenon unique to humans, similar data has also been obtained through experiments on animals. It turns out that extraordinary times have imposed different degrees of pressure on the population until it becomes extinct, resulting in a change in the gender balance with males being dominant. This means that there is a mysterious natural mechanism that regulates gender, and Zarkov decided to solve this mystery.
It mainly depends on the couple's desire to have a boy or a girl.
According to Zarkov, the selection mechanism depends in many ways on the mood of the couple at the moment of conception and whether they are in harmony with each other. A very important factor: if both spouses want a girl, then at this stage it can be said that it is basically the sperm carrying the female combination that can pass through the antigen network, while those carrying the male combination, even if they are completely healthy, cannot pass through the antigen network. On the contrary, if both spouses want a boy at the moment of conception, then it is very likely that a boy will be born 10 months later. It can be seen that Zarkov's selection method is first based on a certain mood, frequency of sexual intercourse, some exercise and simple diet, and relies on the regulatory function of the cerebral cortex to work.
This mechanism also determines that couples have to plan their sexual intercourse so that both parties can form favorable factors for carrying male or female chromosome sets. Therefore, Zarkov believes that the past saying that the responsibility for having a son or a daughter lies entirely with the father is wrong. Of course, sperm production is related to testosterone levels, and its concentration in men's bodies varies greatly every day, every week, every month, and every season. But we should not forget that women's mentality also has a great influence on men, and this influence also affects testosterone levels. Therefore, both parents have equal responsibilities for the gender of the future child.
Russian academicians raised questions
Of course, Zharkov's method cannot guarantee 100% effectiveness. Because the preparation process of future parents is quite long, sometimes 3 to 4 months, and it is related to the sexual relationship between the couple. According to the Family Planning Center of the Moscow Health Department, there is currently no other way to pre-select the gender of the child except in vitro fertilization. However, in vitro fertilization is expensive, the operation is also quite complicated, and there is no guarantee that the fertilized egg cell will be successfully settled in the uterus for the first time.
According to experts, if the "Zarkov method" can be tried and tested, it is of course a good thing, and it can meet the requirements of the majority of parents to the greatest extent. Due to different national conditions, Russia does not implement a family planning policy, but parents also want to have a boy. Based on years of experience, the experts at the center have long seen that if the first child in the family is a boy, the parents do not care too much about whether the second or subsequent children are boys or girls; the problem is that if the first child is a girl, the parents have to consider the issue of having a "successor", and some people, especially in the southern region, some parents particularly value having a male successor in the family. So these people regard the "Zarkov method" as a life-saving straw.
However, some people are still skeptical. Professor Yuri Broshansky, a member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, a doctor of medicine, and former chief obstetrician in Moscow, bluntly said that it cannot be taken as the truth. If it is only related to the cerebral cortex, and we can pre-determine the boy or girl, behavior and weight, and cure ourselves based on the cerebral cortex, then the problem is too simple.
