Circular Economy and Reusable Heat Recovery

Inhaltsverzeichnis

A circular-economy view treats a heat recovery ventilator as a material bank, not waste. The hierarchy is reuse, then refurbish, then recover, keep exchangers, fans, and controls in service, then recover metals and refrigerants at end of life.

  • Design for disassembly: modular cores, standard fasteners, documented material passports enable reuse.
  • Refurbishment: cleaned, re-tested cores re-enter stock, cutting new material demand.
  • Extended Producer Responsibility: EU F-Gas 2024/573 introduces mandatory EPR for F-gas equipment from 1 January 2028, pushing take-back and recovery.
  • Material recovery: aluminium and polymer cores are readily recyclable, captured refrigerants feed the reclaimed-pool exemption.

This closes the loop with embodied-carbon reduction and complements EU Ecodesign performance rules, turning end-of-life from a cost into a recovered asset.
