Marrying a smart wife can make a man live longer

Marrying a good wife is very important for a man, but the standard for a good wife has always been controversial. Is it beauty or virtue? Recent scientific research suggests that men who want to live longer should marry well-educated and intelligent women.

Marrying a smart wife can make a man live longer

Researchers at the Swedish Institute for Social Research have found that men who want to live longer should marry well-educated, intelligent women. The findings were published in the journal *Epidemiology and Public Health*.

Researchers examined data from over 1.5 million married employed individuals aged 30 to 59 in 1990 and analyzed the relationship between marriage and life expectancy based on their mortality rates over the following 12 years. The data showed that men who did not attend high school had a mortality rate 101 TP3T higher than men who completed college. The impact of the wife's education level on male life expectancy was even more pronounced: men living with spouses who had less than a high school education had a mortality rate 251 TP3T higher than men living with spouses who had a college education.

A wife with higher education is better able to regulate her husband's life.

Researchers say that some men often neglect the details of health in their lives, and without the care of women, many men end up making a mess of their lives. A wife with higher education, on the other hand, can better regulate her husband's life: she will forbid him from eating unhealthy foods, remind him of the importance of breakfast, and correct his bad exercise habits.

Good habits lead to a healthy life, and a wise wife is often better at guiding the entire family towards a healthy lifestyle. "Traditionally, women bear more family responsibilities than men, therefore, women's education level has a greater impact on family lifestyles, such as eating habits," researchers say.
