A heat pipe heat exchanger uses sealed tubes filled with a working fluid to move heat from one air stream to another. It has no moving parts, requires no external power, and keeps the two streams physically separated. Working Principle Each heat pipe is a sealed tube with an internal wick structure. At the hot […]
How Heat Pipe Heat Exchangers Work: Passive, No-Moving-Parts Recovery
A heat-pipe heat exchanger is the quiet workhorse of air-to-air recovery: it moves heat from one airstream to another with no fan, no pump and no moving parts inside the core, relying entirely on the physics of a two-phase refrigerant loop. That makes it uniquely suited to dirty, greasy or contamination-sensitive exhaust where you want […]
Pharma & Hospital Heat Recovery: Zero Cross-Leak
How to specify heat recovery for pharmaceutical cleanrooms and hospital isolation rooms where cross-contamination is unacceptable. Plate, heat pipe, and run-around coil compared.
Heat Pipe Heat Exchanger Selection: When Passive Recovery Wins
What a heat pipe is A heat pipe is a sealed tube with a working fluid that transfers heat by evaporation and condensation – no moving parts, no power, no cross-flow. In HVAC, banks of heat pipes sit in the airstream to pre-cool (or pre-heat) incoming air using the exhaust stream. It is the most […]
Heat Pipe & Run-Around Coil: Separate Air Streams
The Separation Problem Some sites cannot mix supply and exhaust air at all: cleanrooms, hospitals, and hazardous or corrosive environments. Rotary wheels and plate exchangers move energy through a shared surface, so engineers turn to technologies that keep the streams fully isolated. Heat Pipes A heat pipe is a sealed tube filled with a working […]
