RESET Air is the world’s first sensor-based, performance-driven indoor-air-quality certification. Its Commercial Interiors v2.0 standard is about continuous monitoring and transparent reporting, not a one-time design check. This article summarizes the monitored parameters and the targets a space must hold.

RESET requires continuous monitors covering at least 80% of occupants across all regularly occupied space types, tracking PM2.5, TVOC, CO2, and CO. Temperature and relative humidity are monitored (no set limit) because they affect the particle and VOC sensors.

  • Data is streamed to the RESET Assessment Cloud; daily averages must stay within the Acceptable limits for three consecutive months (the data-review period) for initial certification.
  • Monitors must be RESET-accredited Grade A (calibration) or Grade B (commercial), wall-mounted in the breathing zone (0.9–1.8 m), and at least 5 m from operable windows, filters, and fresh-air diffusers.
  • Results must be shown to occupants via display, app, or QR code — transparency is part of the intent.

RESET does not mandate recovery, but good ventilation is needed to keep CO2 below 1,000 ppm in occupied spaces — and that ventilation load is exactly what an ERV offsets. Filtration (see cleanroom HVAC practice) supports the PM2.5 target. For the design-side health standard, compare with WELL v2 ventilation: RESET is monitoring-first, WELL is design-plus-performance.

Because RESET is performance-based, the recovery and filtration system must actually deliver clean air every day, not just on paper. Meter the loops and keep the commissioning records — the same discipline that ISO 50001 demands for energy.
