China Heat Exchanger Manufacturing Clusters: Where Recovery Equipment Is Built

목차

기음hina is the single largest producer of heat exchangers in the world, spanning plate, shell-and-tube, finned-tube, heat-pipe and air-to-air recovery units. Decades of industrial build-out, a deep supplier network and strong export competitiveness have concentrated production in a handful of regional clusters.

The most established heat-exchanger cluster is the Liaoning Heat Exchange Equipment Industry Base (Liaoning Heat Exchange Equipment Industry Base) in Changtu County (Changtu), Tieling (Tieling), Liaoning province. Launched in 2008, it grew from scratch to more than 220 resident enterprises with an output value above RMB 10 billion, and was recognised as a National Torch Plan specialty base. It is informally known as the 'China Heat Valley' and hosts plate, shell-and-tube and air-to-air manufacturers alongside boiler, fan and air-conditioning suppliers.

Shandong is a long-standing HVAC and heat-exchanger manufacturing province. The Zibo (Zibo) / Huantai (Huantai) area in particular hosts a dense population of air-to-air heat exchanger and energy-recovery equipment makers, benefitting from proximity to steel, chemical and power users that generate large waste-heat streams. Dezhou (Dezhou) adds solar-thermal and air-conditioning capacity.

  • Zhejiang - Shangyu (Shangyu) is known as the 'hometown of fans', supplying the blowers used in air-handling and recovery units; Cixi (Cixi) and Yuyao (Yuyao) are appliance-manufacturing hubs feeding fresh-air units.
  • Jiangsu - Jingjiang (Jingjiang) and the Yangtze belt specialise in shipbuilding and process heat exchangers.
  • Guangdong - Shunde (Shunde) / Foshan (Foshan), the 'capital of home appliances', is the centre of HVAC and fresh-air manufacturing, home to major domestic brands.

Domestic brands now command more than 70% of the Chinese market for plate and heat-pipe exchangers. The remaining gap is in high-end equipment - large ORC turbines and high-temperature heat pumps - where import substitution is still below 30%. For air-to-air recovery equipment, Chinese clusters offer short lead times, broad component ecosystems and strong price-performance, which explains their dominance in export markets.
